This section includes a selection of relevant links and an overview of actors in the bioenergy sector

Actors

The variety of actors in the bioenergy sector bears witness to the complexity of the sector. Different biomass resources necessitate different types of land use management, harvesting and handling, storage, transport, transformation and conversion before it can be applied for heat, electricity or transport. For each of these steps, actors include public and private practitioners, researchers, developers, producers of technology, associations, local, national and international political decision makers.

The Nordic Council of Ministers, Baltic Sea Regional Energy Cooperation and Nordic Energy Research have established a reference database that provides contacts to different stakeholders involved in the production and use of biomass for energy. The database includes representatives of a wide range of activities, trying to link those interested in bioenergy and economic development in the Baltic Sea Region.
